Timbers Resorts in partnership with Ferruco Vail Ventures will operate and manage The Sebastian, formerly the Vail Plaza Hotel & Club, in Vail, Colorado. The newly renamed hotel and residence club will debut in December this year.
The Private Residence Club will comprise 36 residences with two unique ownership offerings. A four-week membership will start at $310,000 and a Founder’s Club eight-week offering will start at $580,000. Both offerings will include membership in Timbers Collection, which is comprised of a host of perks and privileges from travel partners to reciprocity among resorts in the Timbers Resorts portfolio.
The new owners and managers are putting in various enhancements, including expanding the pool area and transforming the Bloom spa with additional treatment rooms and an expanded menu of services. The new Frost Bar will offer a selection of small bites and throwback cocktails for Owners, guests and the Vail community in a contemporary setting. The Library will serve as a welcoming place to gather year-round with plush seating and intriguing reads. Market, an artisan deli and provisioner, will be the source for sundries and to-go items, as well as breakfast, lunch and dinner for Owners and guests.
The residence club will offer 2- and 3- bedroom units, plus a few 4- bedrooms. No news yet on the usage plan of the residence club offering, but as the Vail Plaza Club, members bought fixed weeks throughout the year, so it looks likely that new owners will also have fixed weeks to fit around the current owners.
The Vail Plaza Hotel & Club made its debut at exactly the wrong time, since it opened in the 2007/08 ski season, just as the economy was starting to turn down. With a new owner and operator, and with Timbers experience in running residence clubs and boutique hotels, and the economy gradually on the mend, the signs are a lot better this time around.
As we’ve noted in an earlier article, Vail has a wide selection of residence clubs and fractional ownership homes, and several destination clubs also have residences in the area. Read through our homes directory to get an idea of all the shared ownership properties in Vail.
