The luxury travel club Rocksure has two supercar journeys planned for members in 2020. In June, members will travel around the highlands of Scotland for 10 nights, and in September will drive down through France ending in Monte Carlo. The trips include a choice of some of the world’s most glamorous cars including an Aston Martin DB9 Volante, Ferrari F430 Spider, Audi R8 V10 Spyder or Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet.
Scotland by Supercar
The journey around Scotland starts on 6th June with a 2-night stay at the celebrated Gleneagles Hotel, where you will be introduced to your car, and finishes in Edinburgh on 16th June.
The itinerary includes 4 two-night hotel stays which allows the middle day for a break from driving, and an opportunity for a round of golf or fishing or tennis or time in the spa and the pool, so this is a vacation as well as a thrilling driving experience. Your luggage is carried between the hotels by a separate van, so you can certainly bring your golf clubs.
The planned route takes you through the mountains, via remote glens and deep sea lochs and onto the Isle of Skye, where there will be time for fly fishing for salmon and brown trout.
The accommodation comprises some of Scotland finest 5-star hotels, including castles and lodges and the driving distance is about 3-4 hours, with plenty of opportunities for further tours.
The Scottish Journey ends with a farewell dinner on board Her Majesty the Queen’s former Royal Yacht Britannia. The executive chef and his team are extremely passionate about the quality and provenance of the food they serve on board, and use the very best Scottish suppliers, many of whom are Royal Warrant Holders supplying the Royal Family.
The cars for this trip include your choice of an Aston Martin DB9 Volante, Ferrari F430 Spider, Audi R8 V10 Spyder, Porsche 911 Carrera 4S or Maserati GranCabrio Sport.
France by Supercar
In France, you will be met at the airport by private transfer, and taken to the Waldorf Astoria Versailles. This luxury country retreat is only 30 minutes from Paris and within walking distance of the legendary Chateau de Versailles.
Your first drive takes you to Le Mans, the venue of one of the most iconic motorsport races, the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Consisting of both closed sections and stretches of public road, you’ll be following in the tire tracks of legendary racers, with a stop for lunch and the opportunity to tour the race museum.
After a stay at a chateau in the Loire valley, you will travel down to Cognac for lunch, then continue the journey southwards on sweeping country roads leading to the spectacular Bordeaux wine-growing region, where the accommodation is another chateau hotel.
On the classic wine route out of the Dordogne there are beautiful country roads, with a suggested lunch stop at a Michelin starred restaurant. Then on the way down to the next stop, the fortified medieval city of Carcasonne, the route picks up a stretch of the fast motorway, giving you a chance to let your car show what it can do.
Travel resumes into the Haut-Languedoc Regional Natural Park and through the Verdon Natural Regional Park, with its dramatic gorge. After lunch at another Michelin starred restaurant the journey continues to the glamorous seaside town of Cannes, following the historic Route Napoleon.
From Cannes the journey goes into the Alpes-Maritimes, and after a lunch stop in the mountains it is time to conquer stunning balcony roads carved out of the hills, with panoramic views to the distant sea. You then drop back down to the coast and end your adventure on the Monaco F1 circuit, arriving in style at Monte Carlo’s Casino Square.
The cars for this trip include your choice of an Aston Martin DB11 Volante, Ferrari F458 Spider, Mercedes AMG GTC Roadster or Porsche 911 Turbo Convertible. The adventure starts in Versailles on 18th September 2020 and ends 10 days later in Mote Carlo on the 28th.
David Rogers, Director of the Rocksure Club told SherpaReport “These are very grown-up vehicles, of course, so it is of the utmost importance that the cars and the drivers will receive a very high level of support from a professional team which will accompany the Journey throughout.” He added that on both trips there is the opportunity to upgrade your car to something even more exotic, such as a Lamborghini Aventador or Bentley Continental, and he continued “If you have a glamorous car of your own, you are welcome to bring it instead of renting one of the Supercars.”
Rocksure mentioned they are already starting to think through their plans for Supercar journeys in 2021 and say they are always available to customize a trip if the dates for their planned trips don’t work for your calendar. The pricing for the two member only trips above are about $25,000 per person, and are limited to a maximum of 10 cars each so could get booked up quite quickly.
The luxury, members only travel club offers exclusive villas and hosts a variety of activities throughout the year. Everything from a private riding safari in the Okavango Delta in Botswana with exclusive use of a private camp, to a tour of the wines of St Emilion, visiting several of the great Châteaux, such as Château Figeac and Château Cheval Blanc, and the opportunity to meet some of the owners, growers and winemakers as well as to taste some of their wines.
And, if you can't make the full supercar journey in France, Rocksure is planning a weekend aboard a 42m (138 ft) yacht at the Monaco Grand Prix in May 2020. You will arrive on the Friday, and enjoy the build up to Saturday’s qualifying and Sunday’s race, whilst enjoying the luxury hospitality and meals by a Michelin starred chef.
